I know British summer time isn’t exactly reliable but it’s definitely got potential. There are so many things I’d like to change about my daily routine, establish some new habits and set some new goals.
BECOME A BETTER YOGI
I’m constantly telling myself that I want to become better at yoga and really commit myself to a daily practice. However, it’s so much easier said than done. I never seem to be able to find the time, especially when we have a little poorly dog to look after.
Thankfully the word “Yogi” to me doesn’t just mean having daily practice (although that would help), there are other aspects of a yogi life that I’d like to incorporate into my life such as meditating to get a calmer mind, and eating to help my skin and body feel healthier.
This summer I’d like to invest in some new Yoga gear (I’m currently lusting after THIS yoga mat), go to some farmers markets for fresh local fruit and veg, get better at cooking meals from scratch, start eating proper breakfasts and spend more time outdoors.
I’m super grateful that I was a summer baby meaning the chances of a sunny day on my birthday are pretty good (although previous years would say otherwise). Last year my 21st was such a nice day spent with my family that I want to replicate that again this year. Nice weather, cakes and music make for the best summer days.
As well as celebrating my birthday though I’d also just like to celebrate each and every tiny victory. Celebrate each and every Etsy sale, or milestone reached, or because I finally made it through a mega long book. I think it’s important to celebrate all the tiny achievements to attract more things into your life to celebrate.
I think little BBQ’s with close friends and family, or treating yourself to a new outfit or something you’ve been wanting for a while are a great way to celebrate what you’ve achieved as well as showing gratitude to the universe for sending them your way.
A good way to keep track of your achievements is to keep a little gratitude journal of all the things in your life that are worth celebrating.
SPEND MORE TIME OUTDOORS
When the cold creeps up on you it’s so easy to go inside and watch a movie or scroll aimlessly through social media. But this Summer I want to soak up every minute I can outdoors before the weather really does turn.
I’d really like to plant a herb garden, go for long walks, and also spend time outdoors in the evenings to watch the stars through the telescope instead of heading inside as soon as the temperature drops.
This summer I’d like to improve photography so walks through forests, along beaches, and in nature are bound to help. Plus I’d love to wake up early enough to watch the sunrise at a beautiful location.
