The beginning of a new year is always such an exciting prospect. It’s filled with this magical sense of belief that you can do anything you want and it all starts today – the 1st January.
Today marks the beginning of a brand new year where you can bring with you the things and the people that you want and let go of anything and everything that you no longer want to carry around. It’s kind of a time where we make new goals and let go of those things that no longer serve us so that by the end of 2020 you really are an evolved person.
You are already the best version of yourself and don’t forget that you are already perfect just as you are. But think of all that you can do and achieve if you just be yourself every minute of every day.
I think it’s easy to be a muted version of yourself in front of intimidating people or adapt yourself when you’re around certain people but by just being yourself you are already the best you can be. And the more yourself you can be, the more you’ll get to know yourself truly and be able to grow according to your own beliefs.
For me I have to get right down to the root before I can begin to set goals. It’s so easy to get caught up in social media and seeing the things that other people are doing and fool yourself into thinking that you want that too.
So I think when it comes to setting your own goals, shut down social media and any other distractions and surround yourself with the things that make you feel relaxed and content. Maybe light some candles, or run a bath, or light some incense, or even put on your favourite dress or cosiest pyjamas. Whatever switches yourself back to the rawest form of yourself – do it.
Grab a piece of paper and just begin to brainstorm. All the things that have made you smile, all the things you have accomplished, all the people in your life that make you happy, write them all down and form a foundation of the things you already have that make you so happy to be you. Whether they are the big things like the people in your life or the little things like what you had for breakfast – they all matter. They all make your life so uniquely yours.
Then once you have that foundation laid out in front of you, add to it preferably in a different coloured pen. Circle the things on there that have made you smile but you feel you don’t do enough of, or the people on there that you want to see more, or add to it some things that you want to do but haven’t had the chance to do. Write on there your biggest dreams and then stem from that all the little things you can do to achieve it and begin making progress towards that dream now.
Today is the day to start.

Think of all the things you’d love to say you have done/achieved when 2020 comes to an end and do them. The only person standing in your way is yourself.
